New houses in an established part of Toronto? It’s possible at Silverthorn Heights

New construction houses in Toronto-proper are a rarity. But Silverthorn Heights, an enclave of 43 homes, is not only made up of new properties, it’s also coming to a neighbourhood with well-established roots. An Icon Homes undertaking, the collection of freehold houses will be located at 55 Ypres Road, just south of Eglinton Avenue West.

The neighbourhood will only grow even more convenient with the introduction of the Eglinton LRT, the new cross-city line that will make traveling to the core or the other end of the city a breeze. Other commuter perks include the site’s proximity to Allen Road and Highway 401.

The community is also home to plenty of restaurants, shops, places of worship, schools and green spaces such as Keelesdale Park, a nearly 8 hectare park outfitted with a baseball diamond and the Chris Tonks arena. The city is also planning to build a new community centre on site as well. But you won’t have to go very far to let your kids run loose: the project will also feature a parkette with playground that is sure to become a gathering point for residents.

As for the homes themselves, the customized properties will feature an elegant combination of stone and brick. The interiors are defined by open concept floor plans and thoughtful connections to outdoor spaces. Basement walkouts lead to backyards and the homes are also equipped with decks that are perfect for entertaining or just relaxing.

Though the project will be officially lauching its grand opening in mid-September, work has already begun on prepping the former site of the Silverthorn Junior Public School for construction.

Suites start from the mid-$500,000s.
